Jan spent several years traveling the back roads of North America and was introduced to the American Folk communtiy by Jason Eklund. New Orleans, the Ozarks, Oregon, New Mexico and Colorado were all Home to them. In 2000 Jan settled in a neighborhood by The Brooklyn Bridge known as Dumbo (Down under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), and put together her first country band. Since then she has made six albums, solo and as band leader of The Maybelles. Accompaniment tends to comprise violin, banjo, upright bass, percussion, piano, harmonica, lap steel.
